A fan-favorite over the years that will be served at my new restaurant, One Life Daily Market

Heartcakes

The combination of Old Bay & Dulse brings all the umami of a traditional crab cake while the base of hearts of palm makes more a modern, plant-based rendition.
Prep Time 20 mins
Cook Time 15 mins
Course dinner

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans hearts of palm roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 qty red pepper diced
  • 1/4 cup celery diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4-1/2 cup almond meal
  • 1 qty lemon juiced
  • 2 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups panko for gluten-free sub extra almond meal
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup vegenaise I like Follow Your Heart brand - avocado oil
  • 1 tsp pink Himalayan sea salt
  • 2 tbsp Old Bay
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp dulse flakes

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients in bowl & mix well.
  • Portion and sear in extra virgin olive oil browning both sides OR bake at 425 for approx. 12-15 minutes.
